Resign to Fate
I was admiring my newly acquired McDonalds Coke glass when JH describes briefly how his BBF (Best Boyfriend Forever) schedule works.
Baffled by how intensive the schedule is, I wondered aloud if Moo, JH's girl, needs to go for further studies.
It seems that Moo had decided not to further her studies. She prefers contributing to the national GDP instead. She thinks that there is no point earning so much money.
Astonished by Moo's thinking, I thought she is being unwise. Not furthering one's education is like committing a crime to me.
Seriously, I don't think that a diploma alone can lay a long and wide path for career. Miracles and extraordinary success stories don't occur every now and then.
Heading towards financial freedom, I know how important money is. Yet a woman, whose future is shining as brightly as a lightbulb, actually says that there isn't any point earning so much money. I thought she either gained enlightment or can't be bothered with inflation and other raising prices stories.
Then, JH added that Moo boasted about how low maintainence she is, hence no need for so much money. I almost bursted out laughing. From the experiences I gained from the past 20 years, women are no low maintainence creatures. My Mum's soft spot for shoes is a classic example.
Then I argued that the reason why Moo said that she thinks there's no point earning so much money is because JH would be the bread-winner for the family!
For the moment, I thought I passed a verdict. CY stared at me blankly, then nodded slightly with approval. JH seems to comprehend and sigh quietly, resigning to his inevitable fate.
Who knows, perhaps I've hit the nail on the head.
