Sum It All Up!
It's once again TGIF!
It's also the day when I have to go and submit my timesheet. In fact, I don't intend to submit it today but my supervisor would not be in Singapore for the whole of next week. Lucky for me, he hand me over to another staff so I won't be so bored in office. That's so considerate, seriously, I hate to do nothing for 8 hours a day.
Received my paycheck on Wednesday, just when I was wondering why is the payment so slow. For the benefits of my peers, on why am I constantly complaining short on cash, living from payday to payday and limit myself to only spend 4 bucks a day. Well, I shall do the favour of working it out so that I might be able to gain more understanding.
Using my latest pay for calculation. Paid $6 an hour by the job agency, it would be $8.50 an hour without going through agency. Work for 8 hours a day, 10 working days in total. My pay is calculated every 2 weeks. I like the "paid every 2 weeks" idea though.
After some mental or calculator calculation, my gross pay is $480. However, I need to contribute to CPF, which means $85 is gone. Less CPF contribution, my take-home pay is $395 and I round it down to $390, leaving $5 as my contribution to my newly started emergency fund.
As a aspiring working young adult, a responsible son, a beloved family member of the Wong, and being scared of being nagged, I have to contribute to the family, which I gave $150 to my mum. Not a lot, not too little, it's about 30% of my pay. I have it all planned and calculated.
I am interested in financial planning and how can I not allocate some of my pay for savings! So a nice 20% of my pay, which is $100 goes into my bank and sit in there nicely.
Now it comes to expenses, compromising of my needs and wants. $10 for 2 weeks worth of magazines. Don't ask me to quit reading them because you also have your fair share of indulgence. $50 for compulsary transportation fee, I don't walk to Eunos-Ubi-Hougang.
Last but not least, $90 left for the other needs and wants for 2 weeks, until the next payday.
Taking the precious $90 left, divide it equally into 14 days, I can spend up to $6.50 a day if I round up. If you think $6.50 a day is not bad, I have things I want to buy, something slightly nicer during weekend and etc. That's why I limit myself to only spend $4 a day so I can have more during weekends.
After the breakdown, now understand why I am complaining? Oh well, this is only 2 weeks worth of breakdown. I don't want to disclose details for the rest of the month because it is very, very much the same, just substituting the contribution to my family to new glasses. My astigmatism is kind of serious, thus the cost of the lens are serious too.
Waiting for my next payday.
