Embarrassing Interview
Went for a job interview at this company which sells Ranger's products is recruiting promoters. They need some for the coming Comex IT show.
I am not sure if I will be recruited but I did make a joke out of myself, my poor command in English.
I was pretty nervous. It been 2 months since I attended an interview. Perhaps you can make it 5, CPG skip the interview part.
Well, the interviewer wants to save the hassle and interview all 3 of us, CY, HY and me, all at once. It's all going smoothly for them until my turn.
The interviewer asked "For a sales job, you have to be proactive and talk to strangers, are you fine with doing that?"
Without much thinking, I answered "I have no sales experience but I am willing to try. Plus, "Once bitten, twice shy"..."
Something's wrong.
I paused for a while, think back what I have just said, and looked at both CY and HY, who were staring at me with their dropped jaws. I knew I said something wrong.
Actually, I am trying to convey that by interacting with strangers more, I would be comfortable with it and able to do my job. However, I mixed the phrase with another. I screwed myself badly with my Chinese-English.
The interviewer looked disoriented. I quickly laughed it off and made that I said the wrong phrase. She reacted by jotting something down on my questionaire. Great!
So, that's how my interview went.
For my performance, I give myself a 4/10. Yes, I failed myself, I got to admit that I have done a poor job.
Cool down, I am not demoralising myself, I am judging my performance fairly, that's all.
Why so serious?
